1-19-08 - Listening Party for TTNC
Kenny "KD" Demith has put the finishing touches on "Then the Night Came", so we're ready for a listening party...  If all goes well, we'll send off this double album to be duplicated... which means that "TTNC" should be ready for distribution in 6-8 weeks...  It's been a long time coming... but we're gonna be proud.  See you at JG's place tonight -- 8pm or so -- for the listening party!

12-21-07 - Ecco... MMT EP!
We did it -- and had fun doing it too!  8 songs in 6 laughter-filled hours... and it sounds pretty darn good...  "Where Are You", "Swallow-tailed Sailor" (folk cover), "It Ain't Nothin", "The Mighty Mountain", "Sometimes It's Easy", "Back o the North Wind" (folk cover), "My Days Go Away", and "Hey Now".   DW and Sandro did the bulk of the mixing today, although there's a hint of more recording to come...  But John is off to the States... and the holidays are upon us... and DW has heard rumors that Wry Dawn's TTNC is rising to the surface... so we'll put this on the back-burner till January and then go from there...  MMT sure has done some great work!  More to come!

12-19-07 - MMT recording session in Formello
DW and his MMT buds are gonna record!  They''ve got one afternoon and about 8 songs to lay down, with the help of the engineering genius of Sandro in Formello...  What will they get done, hmmmmm?  Sure to be a good time...

11-25-07 - Roman Holiday
Thanksgiving in Rome -- and the MMT is going back to the Fiddler's Elbow for some holiday jams...  We're doing folk covers, we're doing new originals and old (including some Wry Dawn favs, OF COURSE!), we're having fun...  Come down to the pub and join us -- music kicks off at 10pm...

11-18-07 - You Just Never Know...
...who you'll meet or what you'll find in a foreign land.  We're mighty grateful to have met some new folks that have made us feel quite welcome in yet another musical corner of bella Italia:  thanks to Richard and Paul of The Fiddler's Elbow for the warm welcome to their open mic extravaganza on Thursdays...  Thanks to that same Richard and his bro Sandro (and hats off to Charlie and Daniella too!) at The Black Bird club for a great night of live music and good times!  Haven't forgotten our friends here in the Castelli, but we're mighty grateful to have met these musicians and good people -- and eager to hang out more.  If you're in the area, be sure to check out the scene at The Black Bird (net info found at http://www.theblackbird.it/):  it's real!  (Just a few doors down you might find the Mighty Mountain Trio comfortably set up in starting to record their first EP ever... Stay tuned!)

11-15-07 - Mighty Mountain Trio
DW has been pickin-and-grinnin with two other Americans -- John and JT -- who are far from home but making music like they're back on the front porch...  We call ourselves the Mighty Mountain Trio, and we're doing folk favorites as well as writing and playing originals...  Check out these clips from the recent mini-gig in Rome:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CcM5-_2BWwU (John gets a little crazy with the effects here, dontcha think?) and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xgj0FTElTzQ.  Thanks to everybody who came out to see the show!  Kudos to John and James for the great video work!

10-25-07 - Ciao, amici!

Sly is chilling with The Moondoggies, JG is making it happen with Sunday Drive (among many other projects of course!), and DW is picking away (with Patti clapping along and smiling warmly of course!) in bella Italia...  but "Then The Night Came" isn't forgotten... and we're looking forward to more Dallas gigging in the near future!  We'll keep you updated on everything...  Meanwhile, happy birthday to DW!

10-16-07 - Something in the air...
John and DW have been jamming along this fall -- still trying to get Patti to join us on percussion and back-up vox (she sounds great!)...  But something new is in the air... yes, something as new and as fresh as the autumn cool settling over central Italy...  Ah, yes!  His name is JT Kennelly, and he brings a world of talent to our front-porch jams...  Check our our new TRIO (+) tonight at the Capp Bar here on campus in Due Santi...  2100 till 2230, at which point we'll have an open jam with any and all who want to join in...

8-21-07 - Return to Italy
DW and his bride, Ms. Patricia Poston, return hand-in-hand to bella Italia to let the Old World teach them some new tricks...  New songs, new albums, new ideas will abound, though the lovely couple have other priorities for the moment...  We'll be staying in touch on band business as we can and hoping to let you hear some new Wry Dawn very soon...  Right on!

6-18-07 - Quiet Summer
Wry Dawn is lying low this summer:  JG stays busy with Sunday Drive and The Harvest Carnival, among other projects; Sly is recording with The Moondogs; fresh back from Rome (and a fruitful overseas collaboration with fiddler John Rhodes), DW sits in with The Harvest Carnival... while the latest album, THEN THE NIGHT CAME, slowly rolls to completion...  Produced by Kenny Demith and Jeffrey Gruber, this record will continue developing the themes of the prior two studio albums while emphasizing even more the bluegrassy roots of Wry Dawn...  We'll keep you updated on the progress!

2-27-07 - "Live at the Elbow Room": RELEASED
It's finally here!  "Live at the Elbow Room" is now available for order on-line at www.specialsessions.com. We've waited a long time for special cuts from our August '05 show to be ready for the public...  Order up a copy of this 13-track glimpse at a great night of "gritty" Wry Dawn music...  We're eager to share that night of music with you -- with its live versions of "Blue Sky", "Cool Breeze", and "Whatcha Say", along with never before recorded tunes like "Honey B" and "Music Town" and "Storm Clouds Rising" (the first Wry Dawn song ever played -- at Poor David's Pub way back in April of '03)...

2-10-07 - "Live at Elbow Room" update
Okay...  so we had some problems with artwork and such...  NOW, the live album is on its way to the duplicator:  check back in a week or two for news!  We're excited that the end (er, the beginning) is FINALLY in sight!

1-22-07 - Damn Inconvenient!!!!
Wry Dawn is announcing the completion of a very special song to be released on the next studio album ("Then the Night Came") which is dedicated to a very special human being...  The tune is called "Damn Inconvenient" (listen to it by clicking on the title in the "SONGS" window at the right), and we wrote it for our friend, Nick Devor, who is afflicted with a cancer that laid hold of him last year:  it is a very rare small cell carcinoma of the colon, and he's fighting with all he's got to beat it...  A song may not do much physically for any cancer patient, but we're hoping that it provides a spark of inspiration for Nick and all those by his side as he works his way through the treatment...  DW will be in Philadelphia tonight and tomorrow, Jan 22-23rd, to present a pre-release copy to Nick (who requested the song and in fact named it for us!):  we've also collected a percentage of our gig money from the past year for Nick so as to help him with his out-of-pocket insurance expenses...  Please, if you can make a contribution as well, contact ndevor@gmail.com (you can make your contribution via PAYPAL!)...  Nick, you are loved!  And you are strong!  Keep fighting!

1-17-07 - "Then the Night Came" update
Our next STUDIO album is entering the final stages of the recording phase...  Sly's string work yet remains, and there's the possibility of adding in some needed banjo on a few tracks...  Still anticipating a Spring '07 release:  stay tuned for more info!

1-15-07 - "Live at Elbow Room" Update

We've waited a long time... and now the wait is almost over:  "Live at ER" has just been sent off to the duplicator!  We expect to have box-loads of the new album -- recorded in August '05 and painstakingly prepared since then -- ready in a little over a month...  Order up a copy or two for yourselves at www.specialsessions.com

1-7-07 - Thanks!
Hearty thanks to all who came out to support us last night!  A great show!  Special thanks to Brian "bg" Garcia for rounding out the Wry Dawn acoustic quartet!  Special thanks to the UD folks who traveled up to Denton for the show!

12-23-06 - Happy Holidays!

Wishing you the best on the holidays...  Right on!

10-14-06 - Musings
Ahhhh... Just looked again at all the pics from the Tour... It's time to get on the road again!  Dang, that was fun...  But meanwhile, work is proceeding slowly on the latest album...  (working title is "Then the Night Came") ... and "Live at ER" is gonna be ready by Christmas, we think...  Our fingers are crossed!!!  And keep your eyes peeled for Sly and The Moondogs around Dallas (Sly is also doing some hefty writing these days, so stay tuned for news on that)...  And JG's Sunday Drive is keeping very busy too...  DW is still plugging away with his Italian life, so you won't find us playing in Dallas for at least a few months, but stay tuned....   HEY:  if you don't have a copy of the latest album, order one up straight from www.specialsessions.com!!!!  Thanks for the support!  Right on!

9-12-06 - The Capp Bar Nights Begin
DW is comfortably re-settled in Italy now... and wil do his first Capp Bar show of the semester tonight...  9pm or so...  U.D. - Due Santi campus...  "The Spot" will be hopping, so come on over and start rocking...  There's an amazing wealth of musical talent in this semester's students, so expect some special guests and spontaneous greatness...

9-1-06 - Summer's fading...
...and the Fall is falling upon us.  Thanks, everyone, for a great summer...  DW is heading back to Italy to see if life in the Old World is still awesome...  Stay tuned for info on gigs and new recordings:  yup, there's been lots of new writing and some new recording... and "Live at the Elbow Room" (from Aug '05 -- you thought we forgot all about it, didn't you?) is actually moving on to the mastering stage!  Meanwhile, keep your eyes peeled for Sly on stage with The Moondogs and JG with the incomparable Sunday Drive, performing in and around Dallas this fall, and support our friend T Richard and his Zydeco Stingrays (http://www.zydecostingrays.com/) as they bring their cajun craziness to a club near you sometime soon...  We'll keep you posted on all our doings as we can...

8-10-06 - New recording
DW and JG have started to collaborate on recording a whole new batch of Wry Dawn originals...  We don't yet know what it will turn into, if anything, but just to tease you a bit, here are some of the working titles of a handful of the songs:  "(He Loves the Way) She Loves Music", "Nothing But Time", "Bring it On", "You Don't Make Sense", "Sake"...  It's a whole new recording process for DW, and he likes it...  We'll keep you posted...

7-13-06 - On-line Sales

Just a tip (or reminder) for anyone interested:  "Where the Sun Goes" AND "Blue Sky" are available on-line for purchase at www.specialsessions.com for $10 apiece.  We hope you enjoy 'em!

7-9-06 - Tour Concluded!

"Blue Sky"...

In looking back on the past two months, thanks to all those who helped all along the way, from Mike n Michele n Zach, to Wray & Co., to Ricky, to Holly, to the Murphys (and of course all of Jeff's co-workers!), to Corey (wow:  thanks, Cor!!!), to Rich n Mel, to Trish n Dane n Owen, to Lucky, to Jer, to Becca, to Marian, to Greg & Chris, to the Wolfs in Beantown, to Jeff & Amy on the Plateau -- to everyone!  Thanks to all of the musicians we jammed with along the way -- esp to the Allens for kicking things off with us last May and to the Jack Burton Trio for helping us make a great night of it last night...  We're grateful to Sunday Drive and Special Session Recordings for all their support (had a GREAT time in Denton on Friday night!)...

Now it's time for a summer break!  Meanwhile, keep supporting live music -- and let us know if you figure out "Where the Sun Goes", okay?  We'll keep you updated on our doings, including info on -- what else?! -- the next album...
